That said, it means that fall high school sports at Mission Bay High are up and running.
One sport that is looking to stick to a winning formula is the girls field hockey program.
Under the direction of 14th year coach Kris Auer, the Bucs are coming off of a 10-6 season in 2015.
According to Auer, key contributions are expected this season from the likes of Kylie Kroeger, Naomy Espinosa, Katrin Eisenhardt, Emery Reyna and Claire Fitzsimmons.
While summer practices can be a little difficult for some teams, Auer said the Bucs have been productive in forming a team environment.
“The girls have created a positive attitude and a family atmosphere where the juniors and seniors welcome the younger athletes,” Auer commented.
As for goals this season, Auer noted winning the league crown and then a Division II CIF title are the top two focuses.
One goal that has already been met is these young ladies doing their best to represent their school and community.
“Our team represents the best of Mission Bay High School,” Auer stated. “These student athletes represent this community with pride on the field and in the classroom. I couldn’t be more proud of how these girls take on the ownership of this team and have molded in their own image: fun-loving and hard-working.”
With a winning formula such as that, expect good things again this season from the Buccaneers.
