Nick's at the Beach
Nick’s was voted best neighborhood restaurant two years in a row by San Diego Magazine foods critics. The Unknown Eater also highly recommends this place. This two-story restaurant offers the best of both worlds. Downstairs you’ll find a light and airy, casual, California-style restaurant and sidewalk café where smoking is permitted. A total of twenty main course selections prepared by talented Chef Scott McElroy. Mouthwatering fresh seafood is the house specialty. We always serve the best catch of the day, fresh from the market. We also serve great-tasting steaks, chicken dishes, savory apple brandy pork chops, pasta dishes, crowd-pleasing sandwiches, and salads fresh from the garden. For desserts, order our warm bread pudding with a Bourbon caramel sauce. Upstairs at Nick’s is where the party begins. Whether it’s sports you want or a friendly game of pool, you’ll find it here. We have 29TV’s, 16 beers on tap and a great ocean view from our outdoor deck where you can smoke (smoking is allowed here). This is what makes Nick’s San Diego’s best neighborhood restaurant. ATM available credit cards AE, MC, VISA. Nick's may be the nicest restaurant at the beach, although that doesn't mean we can't wear our jeans or shorts or just about whatever we feel like. The crowd is casual, and always looks like it's having fun. Not surprisingly, the lengthy menu concentrates on seafood, such as mussels steamed in tomatillos, lime and cilantro, blackened catfish in creamed horseradish sauce, and yellowtail marinated in wasabi vinaigrette. There are, however, plenty of seafood alternatives, including entrée-size salads, pastas and even a good burger. Among the standouts are pork chops marinated in apple brandy and goat cheese--stuffed chicken breast.

Try out their Caesar shrimp wrap I was impressed with the amount of shrimp how fresh they were. The mixture of the salad dressing and spices makes this wrap irresistible.
