Sparkling like a diamond and shining with many accolades by friends, birthday girl Joan Waitt is known for her many commendable facets, loyal, giving, legendary, super mom, extraordinary daughter. As such, she was celebrated by an intimate group of best friends and family. The event at Joan’s estate was brilliantly organized by her son Max Waitt.
“A sprawling lawn that has almost solely been dedicated to fundraisers and galas finally hosted an event for the incomparable hostess herself. Six days, five crews, and innumerable late nights culminated in an eye-catching event that embodied my mom’s character – elegant and timeless…. With just a touch of diamonds.” Aptly and well said Max Waitt!
Timeless as the Gatsby era, guests enjoyed spectacular acrobats, strolling electrical musician performers, Veuve, Chef Drew Passion Fruit Mule Oysters and Pear Martini’s, and later sunset timed entrance to a white draped, carpeted, crystal chandeliered tent with dining tables laden with sparkling ‘diamonds,’ and mirrored menus, each with the guest’s name. The details!
And there was so much more. A 3D portrait of Joan, ‘Marilyn Monroe’ singing happy birthday to Joan, and then, après birthday cake revealed another layer, entrance to Joan’s private club!
Among the scene were designer Malgorzata and Ted Slocumb, Ameer Qalbani, Joan’s sister Jeanine Peschel, Jolene Perry, Margo Schwab in Jeremy Scott and Scott Johnston in Etro, May in Naeem Khan and Emad Zawaideh in D&G, and designer Karian and Tom Forsyth. And nobody danced like Jordan Gafa. He’s got the footwork of a soccer champ… oh he is!
One-of-a-kind night in many respects as Joan changed her Zac Posen liquid gown for club fun one-of-a-kind Chanel. Because she is one-of-a-kind through and through.
P.S. – 40 beautiful floral bouquets from the party went to White Sands Retirement Community to cheer residents per Joan’s wishes. Kind? She #allthat.
‘Til next time!
