Police probe kidnapping, robbery attempt
Investigators are looking into an apparent kidnapping and robbery attempt in Ocean Beach on Jan 16.
Police said a man responded to a Craigslist ad for a camera lens and met with another man at a hotel room on Narragansett Street to purchase the item shortly after 2 p.m.
Detectives said when the victim arrived, the suspect threatened him with a handgun and forced the victim to drive him to the bank.
Reportedly, the bank was taking too long to get the money, and the suspect told the victim to drive away. The suspect did not get any money from the victim.
The suspect was described as being in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall, thin, wearing a hoodie. No one was injured, according to police.
