The California Honeydrops, a Bay Area-based quartet, stop in at The Griffin on April 14.

Currently touring behind its latest album, “Like You Mean It,” the California Honeydrops mix up country, gospel, folk and blues. But the biggest influence heard in the group’s music is classic soul.

As heard on infectious tunes like “When It Was Wrong,” the band is somewhere between Motown and Jonathan Richman, with frontman Lech Wierzynski’s passionate vocals making the band’s catchy material something special.

Edgy rock this is not. But anyone who likes well-crafted pop tunes steeped in Americana and a dash of vintage R&B is going to find the music of The California Honeydrops just about irresistible.

• The California Honeydrops: Sunday, April 14 at The Griffin, 1310 Morena Blvd. 9 p.m. 21 and up. www.thegriffinsd.com
