The Wells Fargo Outrigger Challenge and Luau returns to Crown Point Shores on Saturday, April 27 for its 12th installment.

No experience is necessary to enter, and coed teams of five competitors – comprised of at least two women — are guaranteed to compete in at least two, 200-meter races throughout the day. Teams will receive an outrigger and a steerperson provided by the Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club on the day of the event.

After the races, there will be a luau, featuring a raffle, food from Da Kine’s Plate Lunches and beverages from Kona Brewing Co. and Dr. Pepper TEN.

The entry fee is $225 per team. Teams will receive T-shirts, beverages and a luau ticket. Individual luau tickets can be purchased for $20.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., instruction will start at 8:30 a.m. and the races will begin at 9 a.m. The luau will start at noon.

Proceeds from the event fund the Holiday Bowl, the nonprofit group that brings college football bowl games to San Diego.
