Following high school, she attended San Diego State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She was currently enrolled at SDSU and finalizing her project management certification.

Crystal loved the outdoors, playing volleyball, camping, sailing, kayaking and backpacking. She enjoyed snowboarding and traveling all over the world with her soulmate, Sunny Falkler-Walker, to Yucatan, Baja California, Kauai, Mammoth, Jackson Hole, Lake Tahoe, Whistler, Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Virgin Islands. At one time, she moved to Lake Tahoe to work for a year just to snowboard.

Crystal lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for her career at Elan Pharmaceuticals. She was a resident of Mission Beach, Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach during various times of her life. Crystal was driven to help other people in any way she could and was great at keeping her family in touch, planning visits and activities.

A Mass and Christian burial was celebrated April 25 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 900 H St. in Bakersfield.

A local memorial was held

April 27 in Mission Beach.

A paddle-out and beach flower ceremony took place at Jamaica Court, followed by a celebration of her life, hosted by The Sandbar near Belmont Park.

Crystal wrote: “My inspirations will drive me to propel myself and humanity to a higher level only if I explore my positive interests and strengths. I love sports: snowboarding, volleyball, softball, running. I love the ocean: boating, kayaking, surfing, swimming and hopefully, someday soon, scuba diving. I love the outdoors: hiking, backpacking, rafting, tubing and gardening. I love science: biology, geology, astronomy and physics. How do I find a focus with all of this?!”

We love you forever, Crystal, and miss you so, so very much.
