Designers gear up for fashion week and fashion goes new age Lineup announced for FWSD — La Jolla’s Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar hosted an April 15 event to announce the designer lineup for this year’s Fashion Week San Diego, a five-day event that helps emerging designers launch their careers. Taking place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6 at the Broadway Pier, the event will showcase the art and beauty behind fashion on day one, followed by three nights of runway shows. The trunk show — a huge success last year — will be brought back again on the last day, when guests will have the opportunity to meet the designers and buy their designs. Cyber Couture — The 22nd annual Vista Hill Fashion Show, presented by the Vista Hill Foundation and Virginia Napierskie, took place on April 18. Held at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, the event featured Carol LeBeau, former news anchor of KGTV Channel 10, as mistress of ceremonies. LeBeau talked about her personal experience with mental health and her incredible story offers hope for others in similar situations.

The fashion show, coordinated by Gretchen Bergman of Gretchen Productions, was themed “Cyber Couture” and featured new-age hair and makeup by Bellus Academy. The runway offered futuristic styles, black-light sets, cellophane designs and plenty of sequins and rhinestones.

Proceeds from the event benefit Vista Hill Foundation, providing help for mental health and social services. For more information, visit
