Congressman Scott Peters (D), representative of California’s 52nd District made a special guest appearance to the Pacific Beach Town Council on Aug. 21. Peters is in favor of a “no budget/no pay” policy for Congress and separating records for Pentagon and Veterans Affairs to make them more manageable.
Peters’ visit included an update on the latest in Washington, D.C., after which he fielded questions from residents on topics like healthcare, energy, Veterans Affairs, why the Walter Reed Hospital in D.C. is closed on the weekends and — in relation to the Bob Filner scandal — a better way to vet candidates.
Peters’ overall message was the importance for all members of the political spectrum to set aside differences, work together and find solutions.
