While celebrations marking the Beatles’ 50th anniversary of landing in America continue throughout 2014, San Diego has several yearly events that celebrate the Fab Four’s music. One of the longest running is Rockola’s annual tribute to George Harrison, to be held this year on Friday, May 23 at Humphreys Backstage Live. The band will lovingly re-create Harrison’s hits from throughout his career, including the Beatles’ “Something,” The Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle with Care” and his own “My Sweet Lord,” for a concert that’s sure to be a lot of fun. Rockola is particularly feted for its vocal prowess, something that makes its performances a standout. But Rockola also has terrific instrumentalists, particularly frontman Bob Tedde. who shines on guitar, keyboard and sitar. There are few bands that play these classic tunes better.
