UCSD Health System joins Olympic health network

UCSD Health System has been designated an official U.S. Olympic regional medical center, joining a national network of medical providers selected by the United States Olympic Committee to provide comprehensive medical services to Team USA athletes, including orthopedics and sports medicine, primary care, cardiovascular care, neurosurgery, cancer care and physical therapy.

As a U.S. Olympic regional medical center, UCSD experts will provide comprehensive care services across specialties for athletes in a variety of sports such as track and field, cycling, skiing, rowing and volleyball.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious designation by the USOC and to help athletes of all levels reach their full potential,” said Paul Viviano, health system CEO. “It underscores UC San Diego Health System’s dedication and commitment to delivering world-class care by highly trained medical experts. It is with pride that the specialized care we provide to Team USA athletes is also available to our active San Diego community.”

UCSD Health System administers 14 highly regarded clinical programs whose personnel have access to current technologies, diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies.
