On Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 1:18 a.m., the San Diego Police Department Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a stabbing at the condominium complex located at 1855 Diamond St.

The first police units to arrive found a 66-year old Filipino male lying in a second floor hallway. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his body. Officers provided immediate medical aid to the victim, who was transported by paramedics to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim died at the hospital.

Officers checked the victim’s condominium and located the 37-year old Filipino male suspect and arrested him without incident. The suspect is the victim’s nephew.

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident. The preliminary investigation has shown that the victim and suspect live together and the stabbing occurred inside of their condominium. The victim exited his condominium and ran down the hallway and knocked on a neighbor’s door for help. The neighbor called the police. At this time, detectives do not known what led to the stabbing.

The victim and suspect have been identified, but their identities will not be released pending family notification.
