At 3:20 p.m., the San Diego Police Department issued an update regarding the gas leak evacuation area. First responders are still addressing the situation, but the evacuation area now only includes the following areas: David Street and Ulric Street Eastbound to Mission Valley Road and Mission Center Road, south bound to Mission Center and Camino De La Reina, westbound to include the north west side of Fashion Valley Mall Entrance.

Residents can evacuate to the temporary evacuation point at 5905 Friars Road. The following roads are closed northbound and southbound 163 between I-8 and Genesee and eastbound and westbound Friars between Frazee and Fashion Valley. If you need emergency assistance in evacuating, call 9-1-1.

If you need additional information, visit for the map of the updated evacuation area or call 2-1-1.

The leak began at about 10:35 a.m. when a construction crew broke a 20-inch gas line near the intersection of Friars Road and Ulrich Street. The intersection is just west of the Friars Road exit of Route 163.
