This November, a new public art installation will “Illuminate the Night” at Arts District Liberty Station as part of its growing Installations at the Station program. Over a dozen specially commissioned art installation dot the 100-acre campus and help transform the uniform, monochromatic, rigid former military buildings into a culturally vibrant arts and culture destination. The NTC Foundation is seeking artist proposals for a new addition this winter.

For the past five years, the light installations have been tied to the holidays and have helped enhance the “Salute the Season” festivities anchored by Rady Children’s Ice Rink.

“The Art in Public Places Committee’s decision to switch from a seasonal lighting art project to one that focuses on the depths of winter nights is an exciting prospect for both artists and viewers,” said NTC Foundation Art in Public Places Committee chair Vicki Reed.

Installations at the Station is an ongoing program of the NTC Foundation. To view the most recently funded and installations, visit https://ntcfoundation.org/art-in-public-places/.

Arts District Liberty Station is seeking proposals from qualified artists to “Illuminate the Night” through the public art light installation starting in November through March 2020. This will be thefifth annual public art light installation funded by the NTC Foundation to help illuminate the longer nights. Proposals contracted up to $8,000 will be awarded.

Submittal deadline: 5 p.m. Friday, July 17.
