Fondly known as “Queen” May, May Zawaideh creates quite a royal stir wherever she goes. Whether it’s Elton John’s Castle for an AIDS benefit, or recently in this case to Venice, Italy for the very over-the-top Alta Moda three-day extravaganza of fashion and parties hosted by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana aka Dolce & Gabbana to you and me. A very coveted invite indeed as only 450 were extended worldwide!
And so off May and her husband Emad Zawaideh went for a whirlwind venture of dinners, fashion shows, one had a bit of hail storm, and some all-night club action. All night, wearing what else, custom Alta Moda Dolce & Gabbana!
May’s favorite moments were with newlywed Lady Kitty Spencer, who would be the late Princess Diana’s niece, Jwana Karim, Manuel Arnaut, Shaun Wheeler, of course, the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, and her Emad.
Meanwhile locally, the Positive Movement Foundation held a fundraiser on McKee Street downtown to the tune of 200 people and $150,000 raised. All with the mission of educationally empowering San Diego’s most vulnerable youth with school supplies, computers, tutoring, mentoring to promulgate a better future.
“Our team is dedicated to the betterment of San Diego’s greatest at-risk children,” said Positive Movement Foundation founder and president Omid Sabet. How cool is it that the Positive Movement Foundation has its own day too now in San Diego, Aug. 28!
Of ‘note’ in La Jolla was the upcoming band Classless Act performing at Beaumont’s Restaurant. This signed band will be touring next year with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett. On hand was Kristi Pieper, the proud rock momma of guitarist Dane Pieper. Dane and his bandmates Griffin Tucker, Franco Gravante, Derek Day, and Chuck McKissock have quite the following of PYT, pretty young things, and quite the future!
‘Til next time!
