Facials Bar in La Jolla offers skin-care consulting blending expert techniques with high-quality products to rejuvenate client’s skin while elevating their self-care routines.
Located at 7605 Girard Ave. in La Jolla Village, Facials Bar is owned and operated by Alina Godz, a Ukrainian who fled the Russia invasion with her family to carve out a new livelihood in the States.
“We moved here three years ago and I had my license and a beauty salon back in Ukraine,” said Godz noting, when she resumed her business here that she had to “start everything from scratch.”
Comparing being an esthetician in Ukraine with being one here Godz noted, “It’s different. You cannot switch countries and bring everything you had. It doesn’t work here. You need to get licensed, know what permits you need to get to start the business. The culture, the language, everything is different.”
An esthetician is a licensed skincare professional who provides various treatments to beautify and improve skin health. Godz noted Facials Bar is a specialized salon. “We do just facials,” she said. “That’s our main focus in an open-space concept that is very unique for San Diego. You see this concept in bigger cities like L.A. and New York, but for San Diego, it’s kind of new.”
Of her clientele, Godz noted she treats a majority of women and lots of teens with acne and other skin-care issues. She does, however, do facials for men and that number is growing. “We have a very unique technology for sculpting and other types of massage,” she said. “We have very quick facials, that’s our concept taking from 30 minutes to one hour. Our most popular signature facial is 40 minutes. We combine our massage techniques with the advanced technology we use here.”
“We also have AI-based skin analysis showing the deeper layers of your skin,” continued Godz. “It can show aging, how much your pores are closed, etc. We offer this machine before facials so we can see what products we’re going to use based on the (photographic) results. It shows us what to target, if you need to clear the pores, or if we need to target some fine lines, or somebody has sensitive skin or UV (sunburn) damage. This machine shows everything so we can do more specific facials for everyone.”
On its website at facials.bar, the company promotes its facial rejuvenating service noting it involves a three-step process: sculpt, glow, renew. “Facials Bar is your go-to spot for quick, effective facials that refresh, lift, and rejuvenate your skin,” states the website. The company also refers to itself as the place to go “where skincare meets relaxation.”
Some of the products used and sold by Facials Bar include HydroPeptide products delivering results-driven skincare with powerful peptides and natural botanicals; Zemits merging cutting-edge technology with skincare to enhance every treatment’s effectiveness; PCA Skin offering solutions tailored to target concerns like acne, aging, and hyper pigmentation; and DMK, a leader in paramedical skincare, which is dedicated to restoring skin’s health and balance using natural enzymes.
Asked what tips she has for people to take better care of their skin, the largest organ in the body, Godz said: “Have a home-care regimen using moisturing products. You don’t have to use six or eight products. It can be very basic including a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. You cleanse your face first, then use a moisturizer and protect with suncreen and you are ready to go for the day. We can analyze the skin and find the product that can match a client’s skin needs.”
Godz concluded the proof of the value of the services Facials Bar provides can be witnessed in client’s reactions. “After getting a massage, they lose tension in their necks and shoulders,” she said. “They feel relaxed, not just in their face, but in their whole body.”
