San Diego police shut down a roadway in La Jolla for more than an hour after a domestic violence call the morning of Nov. 5 prompted a SWAT response. According to San Diego police, the incident began at 3 a.m., when a woman in an apartment above a Bird Rock art gallery on La Jolla Boulevard and Camino De La Costa called 911 to report a man inside was threatening suicide. The man was considered a possible domestic violence suspect. Officers arrived to find the woman outside. In light of the five-hour Nov. 4 standoff at Bankers Hill, police chose to exercise caution by shutting down La Jolla Boulevard and calling in a SWAT team. In the Bankers Hill incident, police arrested 33-year-old Titus Colbert after police were fired on with a high-powered rifle from inside a residence on Brant Street, near Kalmia Street. A women the suspect was allegedly abusing was able to escape to safety and is in protective custody.
