All City of San Diego administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday, and on Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Trash Pickup and Disposal
Curbside trash, recyclables and yard waste will be collected as scheduled on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, for customers served by the City’s Environmental Services Department. Residents in other cities should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.
The City’s Miramar Landfill, Greenery and Recycling Center will be open on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2. The City’s Container Sales at 8353 Miramar Place will be closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Permits and Inspections
Development Services Department Virtual Counter appointments and inspection services will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2. In-person payments, in-person records and all virtual appointments will also be unavailable between Tuesday, Dec. 27-Friday, Dec. 30. Other online services, including submitting new project applications and resubmittals will be available by visiting sandiego.gov/DSD.
Recreational Activities
Torrey Pines, Mission Bay and Balboa Park golf courses will be open every day, however, Mission Bay Golf Course will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25 and Saturday, Dec. 31. Holiday rates will apply at all golf courses on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.
All City skate parks will be open every day. Mission Trails Regional Park will be open all days, but the Visitor Center will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25, Monday, Dec. 26, Sunday, Jan. 1 and Monday, Jan. 2.
Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will also be open on all days, but the Tecolote Nature Center will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24 – Monday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 31 – Monday, Jan. 2.
All City reservoirs will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 1. Normal operations will resume on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.
Parking Enforcement
Parking meters, time restrictions for parking on streets and yellow zones within the City of San Diego will not be enforced on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as the observed holidays on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Red, white and blue zones are still enforced every day. Parking rules on Port of San Diego property and in different cities may vary, please read posted signage.

- Chollas Lake.
- Open Space and Maintenance Assessment District Offices.
- The Testing, Employment Information Center and Background/Fingerprinting offices within the Personnel Department.
- Your Safe Place – A Family Justice Center. Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. If there is an immediate danger to someone or a medical emergency, they should call 9-1-1. Additional information can be found on the San Diego Police Department’s domestic violence webpage.
Additional closures within the City of San Diego on Saturday, Dec. 24 – Monday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 31 – Monday, Jan. 2:
- All libraries and book pickup service. Libraries are closed on Sundays.
- City swimming pools and recreation centers.
- The Municipal Gym, Morley Field and Balboa Park Activity Center in Balboa Park. Check with other individual museums and attractions for their holiday schedules.
San Diego Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue emergency crews are not impacted by holiday closures.
