Racquel Gabuya is the Foothills Art Association (FAA) featured artist for June.
Gabuya is a highly talented and skilled Filipino artist who has made her mark on the international art scene. Based in San Diego, she has showcased her stunning artwork in a variety of locations around the world, including Oregon, Illinois, San Diego, and the Philippines.
Gabuya’s artistic journey began when she matriculated at the University of Oregon, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in visual communication and a degree in graphic design. With her extensive knowledge and expertise in the field, she went on to teach graphic design for 15 years, sharing her passion and skill with others.
In addition, Gabuya is an accomplished painter and illustrator. Her artistic style is deeply rooted in her childhood memories of the Philippines, where the natural beauty of the mountains, the hustle and bustle of the city, and the serenity of the seaside surrounded her. Her paintings and illustrations capture the essence of these memories, celebrating the vibrant culture and heritage of the Filipino people.
Now semi-retired, she is focused on pursuing her passion for fine art and exploring new projects. Her dedication to her craft and her deep love of storytelling are evident in every piece she creates. Her work has been praised for its emotional depth, stunning beauty, and captivating storytelling.
As an artist, Gabuya is always looking for new ways to express herself and to connect with her audience.
