Five Women Wearing the Same Dress will run March 1-24 at Lamplighters Community Theatre in La Mesa. The theatre is located at 5915 Severin Drive.
Five reluctant bridesmaids – Frances, Mindy, Georgeanne, Trisha, and Meredith – hide out in the upstairs bedroom of Tracy’s rebellious younger sister Meredith.
Each bridesmaid has her own reasons to avoid the festivities occurring below. As the day wears on, these five women come to realize they have more in common with each other than they do with the bride as they joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent, and touching celebration of the female spirit.
Five Women Wearing the Same Dress was written by writer/director Alan Ball. Ball won an Oscar and Golden Globe for writing 1999’s American Beauty. He also created the TV series Six Feet Under and True Blood.
Teri Brown is the director, Heather Kennery is the producer, with the cast including Nicki Barnes, Timothy Benson, Katy Carter, Jamie Feinstein, Josalyn Johnson and Dani Ucman.
The show contains adult situations and language and is best suited for those over the age of 16.
Tickets are $26 for general admission, $23 for students/seniors/military (group rates available).
