Every year AAUW’s Five-Star National Recognition Program rewards branches for aligning their work with the AAUW strategic plan and initiatives that foster the mission of advancing gender equity for women and girls. The current program covers branch activities and programs from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024 (FY24) in the Nation.
For the third year in a row the La Mesa-El Cajon Branch has met the five-part criteria to receive 5-star recognition.
The branches fill out a comprehensive survey describing their work in five specific areas: advancement, public policy, governance and sustainability, programs, and communications and external relations.
This year’s recipients were made public via email to the branch presidents and posted on the national website (www.aauw.org). Branches can receive one to five stars depending on their areas of strength. Only nine branches out of the 700+ branches in the nation were awarded five stars. The La Mesa-El Cajon Branch received all five stars. The branch is under the leadership of president, Jane Drinkwalter (pictured above).
The next branch meeting will be April 13, focusing on running an efficient and effective non-profit. The meetings are open to the public.
Check the branch website for further details at: AAUW La Mesa-El Cajon (CA) Branch.
New members are always welcome and do not need to be invited to attend a meeting.
