The City of San Diego has installed a new HAWK Crosswalk Signal at the corner of 58th Street and El Cajon Boulevard. Council President, Sean Elo-Rivera and local leaders will be on site later this month to “Flip the Switch” to turn the signal on.
The event will take place Friday, May 31, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the corner of El Cajon Boulevard and 58thstreet. Light refreshments from College Area eateries will be available.
Residents can come on by to celebrate this new safety feature for pedestrians. In doing so, they can be a part of the future and the implementation of a safer, more mobile and vibrant College Area.
The El Cerrito Community Council wants to thank the Eastern Area Communities Planning Commitee (EACPC) for placing this HAWK Crosswalk Signal on its Capital Improvement Project list for the past several years. EACPC’s persistence paid off and this year El Cerrito finally has the signal that residents reportedly wanted for years.
Special community thanks go to Lynn Edwards, the chair of the EACPC, for her dedication and diligence in pursuing the signal for El Cerrito.
