On Sunday, July 28, Mayor Mark Arapostathis will announce Miss La Mesa, Miss Teen La Mesa and Junior Miss La Mesa 2024 at the Sundays at 6 Summer Concert. The coronation will take place at 5:30 p.m. just prior to the concert starting at Harry Griffen Park.
Young women ages 10-26 who live, work or attend school in La Mesa may participate.
Miss La Mesa has been a tradition in the city since 1952 and is a wonderful community service opportunity where young women will learn valuable interviewing, resume building and public speaking skills.
Interested participants should email [email protected] to receive a detailed information packet. An informational meeting will be held at Surfrider Pizza on Sunday, June 23, 4 p.m.
Brees Kanzius (pictured above right) spent the last year serving as Miss La Mesa 2023.
Her favorite event was the Oktoberfest where she wore the traditional German costume worn by every Miss La Mesa since 1990. In the future, Kanzius hopes to be a homeopath therapist. She is graduating from Steele Canyon High School and will be attending San Diego State University in the fall, majoring in psychology and minoring in foods studies. Her mother Robin was Miss La Mesa 1988 and they are the first mother-daughter to be Miss La Mesa.
Miss Teen La Mesa 2023, Luna Moreno Drilling (pictured above left) attends the Academy of Our Lady of Peace.
She loved spending time with her La Mesa community including car shows and grand openings. In the future, Moreno Drilling hopes to be a civil rights lawyer based in New York. She enjoyed the life-changing experience with the amazing ladies of the Miss La Mesa program.
