Tropical Punch, an eclectic and well-curated boutique featuring a collection of objets d’art, jewels, and treasures, has opened its doors in Bird Rock. This vibrant shop beckons with design by Architectural Digest “AD 100” designers Georgis & Mirgorodsky, and plays home to a specially curated assortment of unique and distinctive items that appeal to well-traveled luxury shoppers.
The boutique was born from the imaginations and global travels of Zoe and Eric Kleinbub, the couple behind the design-driven and Michelin-recommended restaurant, Paradisaea.
“Opening Tropical Punch is a dream come true,” said Zoe Kleinbub. “We’ve spent years working with artists from around the world to curate this treasure trove of special items, and behind each piece we’ve selected is a story that resonated with us,” she said. “We hope those stories and items inspire our customers to create their unique narratives within their homes and lives.”
ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN
Tropical Punch is set within the landmark “Piano Building” designed by William Kesling, recognized as one of California’s most prolific practitioners of Streamline Moderne architecture. Originally built in 1949, the iconic building has been restored by owners Eric and Zoe Kleinbub with the help of B&R Architects and acclaimed, New York City-based interior design firm Georgis & Mirgorodsky.
Tropical Punch was styled by Anita Sarsidi, who transformed the space into a bold and vibrant boutique, featuring an eclectic mix of colors, textures, and styles, creating a sense of playful luxury and curated maximalism. A bold palette dominates with a coral pink wall, deep green furniture, pops of yellow and gold, and is balanced by natural wood tones. The mix of patterned and textured fabrics adds a layer of visual richness, with a variety of objects and patterns that speak to a global, cultural influence.
Among the standout pieces commissioned specifically for Tropical Punch by Georgis & Mirgorodsky are the captivating Le Nopal chair, inspired by the prickly pear cactus and the rich tapestry of Hispanic culture, and the elegant Zoe Pouf, featuring intricate knot details by Maki Yamamoto.
Le Nopal evokes a range of influences, from the soulful melodies of bolero love songs to the rugged spirit of vaquero cowboys, while the Zoe Pouf adds a touch of handcrafted sophistication to the space. Eloin Rivera’s palm mural transforms the changing room into a serene oasis, while the Christopher Puzio wall system mirror enhances the boutique’s light and space. A curated selection of ancient art further enriches the atmosphere, inviting exploration and discovery alongside modern designs.
