Area residents are welcome to attend the monthly in-person meeting of the El Cerrito Community Council on Monday, Jan. 27.
The meeting will be held at the College-Rolando Library at 6600 Montezuma Road. Those not able to attend in-person can follow via Zoom from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The meeting is being held next Monday due to the fact the library was closed this week due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
There will be a special joint meeting with the Mesa Colony community for a presentation by Danna Givot on the newly released Proposed College Area Plan Update recently released by the City Planning Department. The draft plan is available at https://sandiego.gov/planning/community-plans/updates/college-area. The public comment deadline is in February, so this presentation will give residents a good background for submitting their comments.
The information Givot provides will reportedly be valuable to all residents in El Cerrito since the Mid-City Communities Plan Update for the area south of El Cajon Blvd (ECB) is also in the works, and it is anticipated that the City will propose a similar plan for both sides of ECB.
A copy of the staff report to the Planning Commission which includes a link to the plan itself is at https://sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/2025-01/item-3-pc-report-pc-25-003-mid-city-cpu-workshop-part-1-of-4-staff-report-only.pdf. The Mid-City Communities Plan also has a February Public Comment Deadline on the information presented to the Planning Commission on Jan. 9.
Givot will provide attendees with a brief history as well as “talking points” that will allow everyone to write their own responses into the comment record for the Proposed College Area Plan and may be helpful for commenting on the Draft Mid-City Communities Plan as well. Givot’s presentation will start about 7:15 pm.
Attendees will also get an update on:
The Mid-City Community Plan Update Working Group
Representatives of our elected officials
Community Relations Officer Joshua Cummings
PATH Villas El Cerrito and Family Health Centers
Local planning groups (College Area & Eastern Area Communities)
Parks & Recreation and other organizations.
ECCC has partnered with PATH Villas El Cerrito to form a Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) that will be the conduit for concerns that residents of El Cerrito may have with the operation of the residential housing at the Family Health Centers (FHC) building, 5472-5482 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego. Concerns regarding the operation of the FHC clinic on the ground floor or the multi-level parking garage, which are not connected to PATH Villas El Cerrito on the upper floors of the building, should be made directly to FHC. If you have concerns or positive comments regarding the residential housing in the FHC building, send them to [email protected], attention Greg Estep, Chair of the NAC.
Attendees for the Jan. 27 meeting will meet in the Library’s Community Room. Use the side entrance directly to the Community Room, which you can access using the walkway that fronts the library on the parking lot side. The door will be open until meeting time and will remain unlocked in case you are coming a little later.
Attend by Zoom if needed. The Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81159477819. The Meeting ID 811 5947 7819. All Zoom attendees are expected to turn on their cameras and keep them on during the meeting.
