My name is Jenna, and I just turned 10 on Dec. 12. Each year, my mom asks what I would like to do for my birthday. My answer is always the same: I want to have a birthday party and give the presents to Toys for Tots! Why? Because I don’t need toys, and I’d much rather make other kids happy because I already have everything I need: a nice home, a wonderful family, an awesome school, great friends and love. Five years ago, I started donating the presents from my birthday party to Toys for Tots, and each year, the number of toys donated has increased. The first year was 64 presents, and this year, through the kindness of friends, we donated 172 toys! I have been so amazed and so happy to help less fortunate kids each year. When we go to the Marine Corps base, where the Toys for Tots headquarters is located, I love seeing Captain Chapman and Commander Storer. I love saying “Thank you for your service,” and each year they always give me a cool prize. I relate to the mission goal for Toys for Tots because my school teaches me how to be a productive citizen and a patriotic American and how to help those less fortunate around Christmastime. I am proud to be an American, and I hope you are too!
