While it’s often too hot to be on the trails, August is a great time to visit the air-conditioned Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) Visitor and Interpretive Center.
Enjoy the stunning view of Mission Gorge (including from the comfort of the cool lobby), peruse the library and exhibits, watch a short film in the theater, and shop in the Gift Shop to support MTRP.
For us at the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation, August is a good time to look ahead and plan for the academic year and into next summer.
As you plan your year, are there any milestone events on the horizon or important work meetings that would benefit from the beautiful surroundings of Mission Trails? Facility rentals at the park’s Visitor and Interpretive Center will improve your events and support the park at the same time. The 14,000-square-foot award-winning facility is a unique venue for afterhours special events and weekday gatherings in the meeting rooms.
When you book the visitor center for an evening event, you receive access to the entire indoor space, as well as a 4,000 square-foot terrace and private parking for guests. The amphitheater can also be included and provides a stunning backdrop for golden hour ceremonies. Seated events can accommodate as many as 180 guests, while informal gatherings can number up to 300 people.
In addition to evening facility rentals, three meeting rooms are available for weekday rentals between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The meeting space includes a screen and AV capabilities, and doors that can be opened out to the terrace with a full view of Mission Gorge. While the maximum capacity for each room is 20 people, these rooms can be combined to accommodate groups of up to 60.
For more information about facility rentals, please email [email protected] or call the MTRP Foundation office at (619) 668-3280.
Another special feature of the visitor center is our gift shop.
Looking for a quick birthday gift for nature lovers of all ages? The MTRP Gift Shop is incredibly convenient with easy parking and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The products are specially curated to reflect the park’s flora and represent our beloved park in some way. There is an abundance of Mission Trails merchandise as well as Lake Murray T-shirts and stickers; all sales in the gift shop support the park through the nonprofit MTRP Foundation.
The MTRP Gift Shop will again serve as the hub of our Holiday Marketplace event which features local “makers” offering unique holiday gifts. Save the date for the 2024 Holiday Marketplace on Saturday, Nov. 9.
If you’re a vendor and would like to participate, please find an application to participate on the MTRP website.
