Albion San Diego came out with another impressive performance on Sunday night at LA Harbor College a 3-0 victory over Gold Star FC Detroit. Albion took the lead in the 36th minute when midfielder Daniel Bedoya found forward Cyrus Tran inside the box, who then beat the Gold Star defense by shooting the ball past goalkeeper Brandon Barnes.
Gold Star FC Detroit was already a man down at that point after defender Kwabena Boateng was shown his second yellow card in the 24th minute forcing the visitors to play with 10 men the rest of the way. The team, led by head coach Diego Gomez, continued taking advantage of its numerical superiority capitalizing just two minutes later by forcing a turnover as midfielder Daniel Bedoya scored on a right-footed shot from 10 yards out that beat the outstretched arm of Barnes.
The teams went into halftime making adjustments for the final 45 minutes with midfielder Shinya Kadono coming in as a substitute for captain Tyler Gabarra to help Albion continue creating chances on the offensive end. Albion San Diego took advantage quickly to start the second half as Bedoya scored his second goal on a nifty give-and-go between himself and Tran, which ended up in the back of the net to make the score 3-0.
Albion created more opportunities in the remaining minutes including a wide-open header from five yards out by forward Aleksandar Gluvacevic and another after a beautiful pass by midfielder Alexander Dalou to Tran created one one-on-one chance versus Barnes, but neither was scored. Albion did suffer a setback in the final minutes when defender Anthony Patti was issued his second yellow card making him unavailable for the next regular season match against the Maryland Bobcats on Oct. 4.
Albion San Diego now gets ready to take on Bay Area United FC on Sept. 27 at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine in the NISA Independent Cup final.
