CORONADO — In conjunction with “Bicycles and Bloomers,” an exhibit exploring the role of the bicycle in the emancipation of women, docents from the Coronado Historical Association (CHA) led several 6-mile bicycle tours of historic Coronado landmarks earlier this summer. These proved so popular that the organization decided to expand the schedule. An additional Historic Coronado Bike Tour has been scheduled by the CHA on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 9:30 a.m. The 6-mile ride over mostly flat terrain lasts approximately 2 ½ hours. Designed for ages 10 years and up with no more than 12 participants, the group will ride at a casual pace with frequent stops. Participants may bring their own bicycles or use one provided by Holland Bicycles in Coronado. A booklet of historic photo reproductions enabling cyclists to compare “then and now” views of the landmark sites is included with the narrated tour. Vintage bicycles and garb are welcome. The cost to members is $25 with their own bicycle; $40 for those requiring a rental (included). Non-members fees are $35 for those with bicycles; $50 for those without (again rental is included). More information and Historic Coronado Bike Tour reservations are available by calling the Coronado Historical Association at (619) 435-7242.
