The Athenaeum’s 23rd annual juried art exhibition, set for Aug. 2 to 30, invites local artists to enter its event , regarded as one of San Diego’s most pretigious juried shows. Submission deadline is Wednesday, June 18, at 5:30 p.m. Entry forms can be downloaded from ljathenaeum.org/exhibitions.html or picked up at The Athenaeum, 1008 Wall St.
Fees are $15 for Athenaeum members and $20 for nonmembers. Up to five digital images or slides per artist can be submitted. The artist must live and work in San Diego County and work in two- and three-dimensional media. Selected artists will be notified by mail or phone.
First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded following an opening-night reception on Friday, Aug. 1. On Friday, Aug. 22, members of the Athenaeum’s Night Owls will name their favorite work from the exhibit. The Night Owls, formerly the A List, is a group of young artists and musicians.
UCSD art professors Derrick Cartwright and Sally Yard are this year’s jurors.
