CAPS Pregnancy+ Medical Clinics celebrated its 25th anniversary at its annual Champion Life Dinner Gala on April 5 at the Four Points by Sheraton in San Diego. The evening drew 365 supporters to honor a quarter-century of service through CAPS’ five licensed medical clinics across the county.
The evening began with a VIP reception and featured keynote speaker Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family. CAPS board member, Pastor Tony Simoncini, opened the program with prayer, followed by a welcome from board member Mikala Janse van Rensburg. Remarks from CAPS founder Jenny Larson and executive director Julie Dowler celebrated the organization’s legacy and mission.
Larson was honored for her decades of service and faith-driven vision to support women facing unplanned pregnancies. Dowler, with CAPS since its founding, praised Larson’s lasting impact: “One child changes the course of history — as Jenny has.”
CAPS offers free pregnancy services, support after abortion or miscarriage, STD/STI testing, and parenting resources. A licensed social worker now leads expanded social services, including in-person parenting classes, online life-skills courses, and adoption support.
Daly shared his personal story, emphasizing the value of life regardless of circumstances. “I believe in what CAPS is doing and am proud to stand with them for another 25 years,” he said. He announced a surprise $5,000 donation from Focus on the Family to cap off the evening.
CAPS serves over 1,500 patients annually at clinics in Downtown, La Jolla, Kearny Mesa, Pacific Beach, and near SDSU. CAPS provides all services free of charge and does not profit from pregnancy outcomes.
Guests were invited to pledge support to help CAPS continue expanding services for women and families throughout San Diego. For more information, call 619 337-8080 or visit capspregnancyclinics.org.
