The San Diego City Council will vet proposed new scooter regulations Tuesday, April 23 starting at 2 p.m. in the 12th floor Council Chambers at the City Administration Building, 202 C St. downtown.
The council will discuss an ordinance amending the San Diego Municipal Code to include “shared mobility devices,” to include regulations governing permitting and operations of several active rental companies in the industry.
Six months ago, Mayor Kevin Faulconer proposed new regulations for motorized scooters addressing safety concerns while allowing dockless transportation to continue operating.
New regulations encompass a number of issues including limiting speed, permitting fees, rider education, data sharing and city indemnification.
