The City of Santee is embarking on an initiative to update its Land Use Element, a key component of the City’s General Plan. This update will reflect the way people live, work, shop and play – all while ensuring that Santee continues to thrive as a vibrant and sustainable community.
With significant changes in the city’s landscape and community needs, there is the need to establish a forward-thinking plan that reflects today’s realities and prepares for the future.
The update aims to:
-
Offer a wider variety of living options to meet diverse community needs
-
Improve transportation choices and accessibility
-
Enhance parks, open spaces, and public facilities
-
Support local businesses and job growth
The City of Santee is committed to ensuring that the updated Land Use Element reflects the community’s values and priorities. Residents are encouraged to participate in the process by sharing their thoughts and ideas through multiple engagement opportunities.
Residents can visit the project website at: cityofsanteeca.gov/planning/land-use-element-update to learn more about the project and share their opinions online.
Additional outreach events and online comment opportunities will be available in the summer, when the city expects to release draft land use alternatives for review and comment. A final Draft Land Use Element is expected in the fall of this year.
“By working together, we can shape a future that enhances the quality of life in Santee for generations to come,” said Santee City Manager, Marlene D. Best. “We encourage all residents to get involved and help us create a vision that aligns with our community’s aspirations and needs.”
