SAN DIEGO — The City of San Diego will change the holiday trash collection beginning with Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11. The city will collect trash on Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and Cesar Chavez Day, according to a statement from the Environmental Services Department (ESD). However, trash collections will be delayed one day following Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. On Dec. 24 and 31, collection will occur in order to accommodate city employees spending time with their families at home. These changes are due to ESD’s implementation of more efficient routes for trash, recycling and yard waste collection services. Residents and business owners must place waste containers by the curb by 6 a.m. on collection days. For more information visit www.sandiego.gov/environmental-services or call (858) 694-7000.
