College Area residents can take part in a cleanup event in early August sponsored by the College Area Community Council (CACC).
The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., at College Avenue Baptist Church east parking lot (4747 College Avenue).
Residents can discard unwanted items and clean up the neighborhoods of the College Area.
There will be three large dumpsters located in the east parking lot for residents to drop off items. Also at the site will be electronic recycling and the Disabled American Veterans will accept useable donated household items.
The Council wants to thank City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera and his staff for collaborating with council members to make the event happen.
Acceptable dumpster items include: Junk furniture, mattresses, carpeting, electronics recycling (laptops/monitors, etc.). Items not accepted include: All lightbulbs, construction debris, tires, hazardous waste, propane tanks, gas cylinders, no commercial hauling.
Volunteers are wanted for the event.
Those interested in volunteering should fill out their name and select a time slot so organizers know how many people to expect, and at what times. The time slots are set in 30-minute increments, but volunteers are welcome to stay as long as they’d like to.
Up to 50 volunteers will receive a T-shirt, snacks and drinks during the event and all get a free lunch at Corbin’s Q (6548 El Cajon Blvd.) after the event.
