The County of San Diego is hosting a rainwater harvesting workshop distributing free rain barrels in Mt. Helix/La Mesa on Saturday, Dec. 16 in support of County water quality and climate action planning goals.
The workshop is at 1pm: Dixieline, 3607 Avocado Blvd, La Mesa.
The workshops are open to the public and there is no cost to attend, but only participants who live in the unincorporated area will be eligible to receive a free rain barrel.

The workshops will cover the following topics:
* The benefits of capturing rainwater for your home and the environment
* The different ways participants can capture rainwater on their property, including how much they can expect to capture.
* A demonstration of how to install a rain barrel on their property
* Rain barrel maintenance
* Available rebates to install more rain barrels and cisterns via the Waterscape Rebate Program
* As part of the workshop, eligible participants who live in the unincorporated area will receive a free rain barrel (maximum one per address), and they can get assistance with their projects.
