The Crusaders Soccer Club has completed initial tryouts for competitive players born between 2016 and 2011, the week of Feb. 10.
Tryouts for players born in 2019 through 2017 were held in December. Tryouts for high school aged players will be in April.
If you have a player born between 2019 through 2007 who is interested in playing competitive soccer, go to the Crusaders Soccer website at crusaderssoccer.org, click on ABOUT US and then Coaches & Staff. Click on Bio and you can read about each coach and the team(s) they are coaching. Do not hesitate to contact them.
Crusaders Soccer is still competing in the SoCal State Cup Tournament.
One team is the 2015 boys, coached by Mark Dirkes. As a result of his team’s wins the weekends of Jan. 25-26 and Feb. 8-9, the team advanced to the round of 16 in the SoCal State Cup tournament. Their next game is the weekend of Feb. 22-23.
The Competitive program continues its rapid expansion. There are now 35 competitive teams, an increase of over 50%.
Victor Melendez, the director of Coaching, stated, “Our growth is the result of hard work by everyone; coaches and our assistant directors, who also coach a competitive team(s); Erick Melendez and Seth Tunick, Kate Maietta, college director, Justin Robinett, women’s program director.”
Modesto Guariniello, our director of our Recreational program, commented, “Our recreational spring season begins on March 2 and continues through Sunday, April 29, with no games on Easter Sunday. I am working closely with our diligent volunteer division coordinators as they populate the 54 recreational teams ranging in birth years 2012 through 2021. I am also looking forward to working with all our volunteer recreational coaches for our spring season and I am expanding our coaching clinics. Stop by virtually any of the grass fields in the Navajo area on a Sunday and take in a recreational soccer game.”
