The El Cerrito Community Council (ECCC) will hold its monthly community meeting on Thursday, March 21, 7-8:30 p.m. at the College-Rolando Library. The library is located at 6600 Montezuma Road. Those wishing to attend can also do so via Zoom.
ECCC has openings on its Board and is looking for new members to join with their ideas, vision, and energy.
Requirements for those wanting to join are that they live in El Cerrito and have attended one ECCC meeting during the last 12 months. Those interested should see the map of the boundaries of El Cerrito at: at https://elcerritocommunitycouncil.org/about-us/ and email the ECCC at: [email protected]. Interested individuals can have their name placed on that ballot or can announce their candidacy at the March 21 meeting. Those interested should be prepared to tell the ECCC about themselves. Voting can be done in person at the meeting.
The main topic of the evening is a presentation by Laura Leonard of the San Diego Humane Society.
Leonard will provide attendees with a general overview of the Humane Society and its programs with a focus on lost and found pets and tips to keep pets safe during fireworks and storms.
ECCC will also discuss last month’s presentation by Ramie Zomisky on the impact of short-term rentals and corporate and non-local ownership on the San Diego housing market and how a quick and logical code change could be a major piece of the solution to the current housing crisis with an eye to submitting a written proposal to the San Diego City Council. You can access her presentation at:https://elcerritocommunitycouncil.org/el-cerrito-news/. Attendees are asked to review the presentation so the group can discuss what to include in their letter to the city council.
There will also be the usual updates from elected representatives, SDPD community relations officer, planning groups, and the city’s Parks & Recreation Board as well as an update on the PATH Villas El Cerrito project on El Cajon Boulevard by Megan Colvard, senior director of PATH Enterprises.
ECCC will meet in the Library’s community room. Attendees should use the side entrance directly to the community room which they can access using the walkway that fronts the library on the parking lot side. There will be lanters guiding the way to open the door to the meeting room. The door will be open until meeting time and will remain locked in the event some are coming a little later.
Metings are hybrid in-person and via Zoom.
