The community is welcomed to attend the next meeting of the El Cerrito Community Council on Thursday, July 18 at the College-Rolando Library, 6600 Montezuma Road.
Individuals should note that this and future meetings of the ECCC will have a new time – they will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
The ECCC meeting time is changing to align better with the Library’s Internet access which ends at 8 p.m. This will allow those Zoom attendees to be present for the whole meeting.
The main topic of discussion will be Capital Improvement Projects:
* What a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) is;
* Current CIP projects taking place in El Cerrito, as well as those on the CIP list but not yet funded;
* The City of San Diego’s annual CIP process and funding sources
* CIP Budget, funding and time frames;
* How you can add projects to the CIP list.
Capital Improvement Projects are infrastructure projects that serve the community, such as street repair and/or repaving, crosswalks, sewers, water mains, parks, libraries, and traffic signals.
There are some projects residents have opportunities to propose, like the recently installed HAWK crosswalk at 58th Street and El Cajon Boulevard, though some huge projects, such as water mains and sewers, are handled almost entirely by the City.
When it comes to parks, street resurfacing, traffic signals, residents can have a say. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and provide more suggestions.
Attendees for Thursday’s meetings can also get updates from:
* Representatives from elected officials;
* San Diego Police Community Relations Officer;
* CACC & EACPC planning groups;
* Colina Del sol Parks and Rec Board;
* Other community organizations;
* PATH El Cerrito Villas – that very tall building on El Cajon Blvd;
* MidCity Community Plan Update.
The meeting will take place in the Library’s Community Room. Attendees should use the side entrance directly to the Community Room which they can access using the walkway that fronts the library on the parking lot side. The door will be open until meeting time and will remain unlocked in case attendees are coming a little later.
The meetings are hybrid in-person and via Zoom if one can’t attend at the library.
If interested in using Zoom, the Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81159477819. The Meeting ID 811 5947 7819. All Zoom attendees are expected to turn on their cameras and keep them on during the meeting.
