Residents are invited this Thursday to join the El Cerrito Community Council (ECCC) for its monthly meeting in person at the College Rolando Library, 6600 Montezuma Road, or via Zoom.
This and future meetings of the El Cerrito Community Council (ECCC) will have a new time: they will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. The ECCC meeting time is changing to align better with the Library’s Internet access which ends at 8 p.m. This will allow Zoom attendees to be present for the whole meeting.
The City of San Diego has commissioned a study to determine what separate fees it should charge for trash and recycling services for single-family homes starting next year. That process has begin and, as part of that process, the city has hired the public relations firm, Cook and Schmid, to gather community input on the new proposed trash and recycling fees for a Cost-of-Service Study.
At this week’s meeting, Cook and Schmid will give an in-person presentation about Measure B which authorized the city to charge the new fees, about the Cost-of-Service Study, about Open House community meetings, and about giving input and feedback on the Cost-of-Service Study which will help the City determine the new fees that single-family homeowners will pay for trash collection and recycling services in the future.
The public can attend this community meeting to find out more about the Cost-of-Service Study and provide their input.
- Public outreach on this topic is ongoing through November 2024
- The City Council will be receiving information updates in September and October 2024
- The Cost-of-Service Study is to be completed in December 2024 and a vote by City Council is due in Spring of 2025; and
- If the fees are approved by the City Council, the rollout is planned to take place next summer – 2025 – and continue through July 2027.
The ECCC will also have updates from representatives of the planning and community organizations and elected officials.
Attendees will meet in the Library’s Community Room. Those attending should use the side entrance directly to the Community Room which they can access using the walkway that fronts the library on the parking lot side. The door will be open until meeting time and will remain unlocked in case they are coming a little later.
While officials would like to see attendees in person, meetings are hybrid in-person and via Zoom, so attend by Zoom if needed. The Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81159477819. The Meeting ID 811 5947 7819. All Zoom attendees are expected to turn on their cameras and keep them on during the meeting.
