
The 37th annual Fur Ball was on Oct. 7 at the San Diego Humane Society. Guest arrived with their canine companions all dressed to impress. Many of the furry friends came in their best finery matching their owners. Cuteness abounded. Guitarist Mark Langford serenaded the guests as they stepped onto the red carpet. The first to arrive were the honorees Ken Cohen and Elena Salsitz.
Michelle and Doug Christensen arrived with their dog Ruby. She is a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix) and was wearing a cute red beret in keeping with the Parisienne theme for the evening. Ruby is a canine ambassador for SDHS. This year’s poster dogs, Zoe and Selby, came down the red carpet delighting the crowd.
Alexis Ybarra looked lovely in her patterned dress matching her pug Bojangles. Yvonne Merrill and her Paillon Olivia complimented each other in royal blue attire. Hot pink has been a trend since the “Barbie” move. Kathleen and Woody Snyder with their dog Saucie (Dachshund/Havanese mix) and Stephanie Sauro with her Maltipoo Sunny.
Some guests brought doggy buggies for their dogs like Jerri Hunt with her French bulldog Bentley. Gabriel Feitosa a Brazilian dog grooming artist swept everyone away with a Bichon Frise named Bibi and a toy poodle named Kronos.
The emcee for the evening was TV personality Dagmar Midcap. Auctioneer Mark Drilling auctioned off an array of wonder live auction items. All the guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu prepared by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille. The evening concluded with music from Haute Chile.
