Spirits were sky high on Sept. 22 at Point Loma High when a considerable student turnout welcomed dozens of alumni to the school’s 97th Homecoming event.
The alumni led off the halftime ceremony featuring the earliest graduate in attendance and the Homecoming Court of students marched across the field. The marching band played and cheerleaders beamed while executing dramatic moves and lifts. Class performances used “Movies” as a theme.
And in a surprise moment, students chanted the names of new principal David Jaffe, history teacher Ron Moss, and several others supervising on the field.
And the football team did its part, sprinting to a 37-0 halftime lead over San Diego High before sending Pointer fans home after a 50-7 victory.
The earliest Pointer graduates in attendance were Hazel Russell Correia, (Class of 1944), second from right, and Cecilia Correia Pollock (1945), second from left. Debbie Pollock Hall escorted the, left (1967) and Lori Russell Hale (1984).
