The owners of Busalacchi’s on Fifth restaurant announced yesterday they will move from their original location to launch a new restaurant with a new concept this summer.
The new restaurant will continue in Hillcrest, just a half-block north at Fifth Avenue and Pennsylvania Street. It will seat 120 people indoors and outside, and feature a classical Italian repertoire made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, said owner Joe Busalacchi.
“The concept will be fresh and clean. We’re going to serve the sweetest tomatoes, hand-shaved parmesan cheese, herbs we’ll grow in our own garden and simple, delicious recipes that Italians have enjoyed for generations,” said Busalacchi, owner and president of Busalacchi Family Restaurants, which includes seven restaurants in Little Italy, Hillcrest and Eastlake.
Busalacchi’s on Fifth opened in 1986.
To commemorate the move, Busalacchi’s on Fifth is reviving its original menu—and original prices—for a special evening in April. It will also feature several special events, including an evening with Tommy Lasorda, a contest in which diners can decide which favorite Busalacchi’s recipes should be carried over to the new restaurant, and a chance to win a free meal for four on closing night.
