DOWNTOWN — Mama’s Kitchen is a nonprofit organization that delivers meals and food to people living with HIV/AIDS or cancer in the San Diego area. On Sunday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Mama’s Kitchen will hold the Great Gatsby Garden Brunch to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The roaring twenties will be the theme of the brunch. Classic cars will be on display and live jazz will entertain guests who should wear fine “lawn” attire. The event will take place at Marston Hills, a historic and private estate in San Diego. Tickets are $250 per person and each table will seat 10. All proceeds from the event will support Mama’s Kitchen, which serves three meals a day to men, women and children who are affected by these diseases. In 1990, the AIDS Assistance Fund realized that many of its clients were too ill to care for themselves and many were not able to prepare meals. Mama’s Kitchen was founded to help with this need and over the years has begun serving meals to those coping with cancer as well.
