Both La Jolla Country Day (LJCD) School and The Bishop’s School lived to play another day with wins last weekend in the CIF Division V football playoffs. LJCD (10-1) rolled to a 56-0 win over Tri-City Christian (see related story), thereby setting up a 7 p.m. showdown this Friday night with top-seeded Francis Parker in the semifinals. In the other Division V semifinal, it will be The Bishop’s School meeting Christian for the right to move on to the championship game. Bishop’s scored a 22-7 victory last weekend over Foothills Christian, as Alec Fisher rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights. Bishop’s defense intercepted four passes to help key the victory. In Division IV action last weekend, La Jolla High (5-7) saw its season come to an end with a 49-6 loss at Valley Center. La Jolla’s only points on the night came on a pair of field goals from Braden Fudge, who also caught three passes. “Valley Center was able to control the game with a powerful running game and effective passing,” La Jolla High head coach Rey Hernandez noted. “It was somewhat disappointing, but our players gave an honest effort in every game. Hopefully the underclassmen will use this season as a source of motivation for the 2010 season.”
