Neighbors in El Cerrito and all around the College Area are welcome to take part in a city-wide rally for responsible growth on Saturday, July 29, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., along Friars Road at Ulric Street, northeast of Fashion Valley Shopping Center.
The call is for responsible growth that adds high density housing in the right places without destroying the integrity and livability of respective neighborhoods.
One of the most reported egregious proposals from the city planning department asks the city to adopt California Senate Bill 10. Reportedly, no other city in California is interested in adopting SB 10. To find out why, and learn more about the reported issues with SD 10, visit: neighborsforabettersandiego.org/.
Those attending the rally are asked to wear a red, white, or blue shirt. Attendees should also consider taking public transportation, carpooling, or coming early to find parking in the area.
Participants are asked to bring their protest signs, friends and family members. The goal is to have at least 1,000 participants.
There will be various posters at the rally, but attendees are encouraged to make their own.
To that end, there will be a pair of poster workshops at the College Rolando Library.
Those workshops will be: Saturday, July 15, 1-3 p.m. in the study room; Saturday, July 22, 1-3 p.m. in the community room.
