ResortPass has created a way for San Diego locals to play tourists in their own city through their daycation booking platform.
Founded five years ago, ResortPass has partnered up with more than 1,000 hotels to offer day passes to luxury amenities – including pool, spa, gym, and private beach access – at a discounted rate.
Locals – or ambitious tourists – can pop in to enjoy the benefits of a hotel guest without actually booking an overnight stay.
“ResortPass is a way for locals and travelers alike to experience the amenities at a range of hotels – many four and five-stars – and really have a luxurious daycation, regardless if they live in that city or are traveling and staying at an Airbnb or another property,” said Nicole Maddern, ResortPass’ vice president of marketing. “We see a lot of locals enjoy ResortPass as a way to get away and take their family to the pool or have a romantic day with their partner, or a fun time out with friends.”
With over 250 participating cities worldwide, San Diego is among one of the more frequented partnering destinations. Whether looking to snag a $10 day-pass to InterContinental’s four-star rooftop pool downtown or access to Hotel del Coronado’s cabanas and beach lawn chairs, locals can choose from more than 40 hotels located across San Diego.
“Most of these hotels don’t actually have a way for you to book a day pass, outside of ResortPass. You’ll get a similar experience as you might if you were an overnight guest,” said Maddern. “We have things that are more family-friendly versus things that are more luxurious and relaxing, so we really do think there is an offering for everyone.”

Among the more popular of the partnered San Diego hotels are the Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, and the Town and Country San Diego in Mission Valley. Each ranging from four to five stars, there is a wide variety of amenities within these participating properties.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort has been partnered with Resortpass for the past three months, offering day passes for $45 dollars for adults and $25 for children. This grants access to their pools, restaurants, pickleball courts, and more.
“Often times people are surprised that we have the beach shuttle service. So, if they want to hang out at the pool for half the day and then go to the beach for the rest of the day, they have that,” said AJ Dorschner, Loews Coronado recreation supervisor. “They come by and have spoken great things about our staff and are pleasantly surprised to have such good food poolside.”
Locals are not the only ones reaping the benefits of these discounted amenities. Hotels are able to decide how many day-passes they want to allocate to ResortPass, depending on how booked the rooms are. This allows for the properties to fully utilize their amenities, even during slower tourism weeks.
“It’s been great because on certain days where the hotel isn’t at max capacity, we are able to coordinate with ResortPass to get our areas at the hotel full and being used – and people get to enjoy what we have to offer,” said Dorschner.
Passes typically start at $25 per person and can be booked through resortpass.com.
