It was a special day recently for Meals on Wheels San Diego County, as organization paid a visit to East County resident and client, Ann Strutz, who turned a young 106 years old.
Strutz has been a Meals on Wheels San Diego County client since December 2021. She is one of only a few of the nonprofit’s senior clients to have gone the most trips around the sun.
According to her family, Strutz, who resides alone in the El Cajon area, stays quite active, is healthy, and still prepares meals for herself with the assistance of Meals on Wheels San Diego County’s meal deliveries.
Given her many years on Earth, Strutz credits Meals on Wheels and healthy food choices having a lot to do with it.
“I think it’s really God who is responsible,” Strutz remarked. “For some reason he wants me to hang around here.”
Individuals looking for the chance to enjoy such experiences with local seniors like Strutz, can volunteer with Meals on Wheels San Diego County. Seniors are in need of a warm smile, conversation and nutritious meals.
Those interested in volunteering should visit sandiegomealsonwheels.org for further information.
