There will be two dragons, one dog, and a very tall coyote at the College-Rolando Library in March.
Yes, that’s right. Let me explain.
On the third Thursday of each month, you can find a friendly service dog in our Community Room for our Crafting for Critters program. During Crafting for Critters you can help us make fun and easy enrichment items for homeless animals at our local Humane Society. Next event is Thursday, March 21 from 2:30-3:30pm.
Odi the Coyote is a coyote, just not one you will find in the wild.
ODI stands for Opportunity, Discovery, and Inspiration, and is our library mascot. Odi the Coyote also wears a red shirt and carries a backpack—not common for your usual coyote.
Why is Odi the Coyote visiting the branch?
We are celebrating our early literacy reading program 1000 Books Before Kindergarten with a party and Odi the Coyote will be at the branch for photos. There will also be crafts, dancing, bubbles, and live music from Ralphs World. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an early literacy program for ages 0-5 and is sponsored by The Library Foundation. This party will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 10:30 a.m. -12 p.m.
The Asian Story Theater will be presenting a special performance of their Two Dragons: a play featuring two stories: Naga and the Princess and the Dragon Pearl. Asian Story Theater celebrates our Asian heritage, multicultural awareness and understanding by dramatizing Asian and Pacific Island (API) stories, arts, and themes for family audiences. Join us for a magical showing celebrating dragon folktales on Friday, March 22 from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
There’s always something going on at the College-Rolando Library. Visit us to find out.
