La Mesa’s Aromi Italian Cuisine Restaurant has expanded its operations to include Pizza by Aromi, a pizzeria located next door to Aromi. The pizzeria serves amazing Sicilian pizzas.
Co-owner Marco Lanza, emigrated from Sicily in 2018, received his green card and started working in restaurants. He met his co-owners Andrea Carbonaro and Francesco Mancino, and they decided to open their own restaurant. “It took us about a year to get Pizza by Aromi up and running. It was a salon before and required a full rebuild to accommodate this gorgeous pizza oven that we imported from Italy. Most of our ingredients are imported from Italy. San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Buffalo Mozzarella and Salami from Calabria,” Lanza said.
Highlights on the menu are the Sicilian-style classic pizzas such as Napoli, Margherita, Diavola with spicy salami, and Marinara with anchovies. Also on the menu are various nuevo varieties like Tartufosa, which is porcini cream, fresh mozzarella and shaved truffles. They make a Porcellina pizza loaded with smoked mozzarella, pancetta, arugula and toasted almonds. If you like salmon try the Salmone pizza with mozzarella, smoked salmon, cherry tomatoes and arugula.
Gluten-free diners, you will be glad to know that they offer a delicious gluten-free pizza crust with a pizza mix imported from Italy. It is tasty, thick, and rich, unlike some crusts that are found in stores and restaurants in America.
Pizza by Aromi also offers a variety of antipasti, salads and desserts. The grilled artichoke drizzled with olive oil and served with crostinis is a tasty starter. Prosciutto and melon is another appetizer that is a delicious precursor to a pizza. The Nutella dessert pizza dotted with bananas and strawberries is a delightful ending to a great meal.
Coming soon is a happy hour, Monday through Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
